The Restaurateur

In a small town by the river with brick buildings and lamp posts leaning, a man held down his restaurant forever. It was his faith, his only religion. Other than that, he loved his mother!  Winter nights the town went empty, no cars, no steps on the street. Snow fell as if the town was inside a globe. Inside the restaurant always electric candlelights glowed  — all very still and everlasting. Nothing else whatsoever was ever known of him.
