Moonlight Geometry

I asked the tree, “how would you like to be? The tree said, “I want to be pure and free.” I asked the man and the woman what do they want to feel? “We want to hold each other until everything is still.” I asked the moon what he wanted. “To float close to the earth near the clouds.” The clouds, they said, “We want to be next to the night.” These many requests I jotted down, not one more profound than the another. And when my work was done I asked Eternity, “And where would you like to be?” “Just sign your name and we shall see.”
